Indonesia: A New Trademark Law Became Effective on November 26, 2016

The Indonesian Government has approved its new Trademark Law which became effective November 26, 2016. The new Trademark Law introduces a number of changes to the registration, protection, and enforcement of trademarks in Indonesia.

Non -Traditional Marks are now accepted and include: sound marks, 3D shape marks and hologram marks

A renewal application of trademark registration can be now filed six months prior to the renewal due date.  Late filing of a renewal application after the expiry date may be done within a six month grace period by paying  penalty fees.
