The Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BRPTO) just announced that an agreement was signed with the Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO) to expedite the prosecution of patent applications through a Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Program, wherein the Applicant may request the fast-track examination of its application in Brazil or Denmark after being granted by the other. On January 13, 2016 the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark deposited a new declaration, which withdraws the one made upon ratification of the Protocol “to the effect that until further notice the Protocol should not apply to the Faroe Islands.” The said declaration will enter into force on or about April 13, 2016 when the Faroe Islands become part of the Madrid System.
